The film is in the war genre as it is a story based on a real person called Desmond Doss who served in the war. This is shown by using a young actor playing Desmond. Also, by the mise en scene, the costumes are those of the soldiers that fought for America in the war. the narrative in the film is mostly dialogue between characters though there are a few scenes in which the character of Desmond narrated what was happening.
